Cracking Under Pressure
Can someone spare some happy pills? I've been in some kind of funk ever since Sunday's race and I can't seem to snap out of it. I almost started breaking dishes when I woke up this morning and had no milk for coffee. Melt-down city. I don't want to talk to people and they probably don't want to be near the she-devil either.
I wonder if I have been training too hard. I'm going to cut back on the weight lifting. I think I may be physically tired all the time. I took yesterday off and rented The Million Dollar Baby. It was a good movie.
I swam this afternoon, first time since the race. I wanted to time myself to make sure it doesn't really take me 10:30 to swim 375. I swam 100's in 1:30 but it didn't lift the dark cloud following me around. I have a track workout tonight. Maybe if I get the endorphins really pumping I'm be back to my normal self. Pray for my husband, okay?

I'm sure you'll get out of your funk soon. If Million Dollar Baby doesn't help. Try renting Anchor Man. Its a silly movie, but it usually helps my mood. By the way, the cologne scene is especially funny.
Um, let me review this again. You WON FIRST PLACE NOVICE, and you're bummed. Is there a disconnect here somewhere?
Not to mention... you won your division of 9 athletes by FOUR WHOLE MINUTES. Yes, I checked.
Now, what was the problem again?
My swim times are horrible. My run times are poor too. Next year, I will be in one of the toughest age groups. That kind of time would never place. It was just a humbling reality check.
It's called PACING. :-) You had six legs in your triathlon. It's not about the individual legs, it's about the finish line time. And you ROCKED!!
Or you can kick yourself. Your choice!! But that part is totally optional!
Mojo, you know that you are a great and natural athlete! You train hard. You are determined! You are focused! DO NOT compare Kure Beach to ANY OTHER RACE! You can't! Other races don't even compare. You are awesome babe! Keep your head up b/c I look up to you in many ways! Love you girl!
No milk? That's why you have goats! Just go out back and get your self a squirt or two.

Try not to be so hard on yourself. You are doing great! We all have funks now and then. And then the next week might be fantastic. Not sure why, but it happens. Write down all that you have accomplished and you will see that you are doing excellent. Just think of all the millions of people who can not even fathom swimming 375 meters, let alone running and biking afterwards.
You are a SURVIVOR (in more ways than one), and I am sure you will survive this.
I hate funks....
Sometimes the cure for me is alot more sleep than usual.
As in, get a full nights worth and take naps too.
Recharges the batteries.
